I can’t afford a gym membership and I have no absolutely no equipment of my own. I’ve heard of working out and building muscle by doing certain exercises, I don’t know if it’s possible. Website links appreciated if it’s proven that it works.
if you want an intense full body workout with nothing but yourself, i suggest doing burpees. Try do a descending 20 workout – 20 burpess, rest, 19 burpees, rest … until 1. This is commonly known as the prison workout.
There are a few good sites with workouts you can do with no equipment, try searching "bodyweight workouts" on google or youtube.

I am wondering how i can gain strength (arm strength \ overall strength) without having to buy gym equipment or needing to go to a gym.
I am 175 lbs , 5′8 , 14 years old and i play tackle football and ice hockey.
Thank you for your help.
jus lettin you know im in shape, that wasnt my question , i am wondering how to gain strength in my arms and upper body.
(I am on the cross country team \ i mountain bike )
Wow you’re already pretty big lol. I just do pushups and situps in my house every night … 50 pushups and situps for me. But, if you really want to gain muscle, then you probably have to go to the gym or buy some sort of equipment so you can train with heavier objects.

Im not fat or anything…Infact Im really skinny and I play a lot of sports but I dont have any mustle … I am just skinny =[ ... Any ideas on how I can get some mustle in mainly my legs, arms, stomach and chest ?
P.S Without any gym equipment ! Even dumbells !
Something i used, because i use to be just like you.. and now i have more strength and muscle than some of my team mates who went to the gym. Using gym equipement doesn't mean you will gain weight. in some instances it could be the opposite. using all those conventinol machines could actually be bad for you.. something i did was :
1.) get a 2x4 piece of plie wood.. or any wood or slab u could find.. ALSO you will need a stick or some sort..preferable the ends of a heavy broom stick.. (this will speed up the process, i you don't have this act like you do.)
2.) place the middle of the bottom of your foot at the edge of the wood on the ground.. so the heel of your foot should be on the wood, and your toes on the ground.
3.) spread your feet shoulder width apart *OPTION* place the broomstick behind your head and hold it with your hands.. as if you were bench pressing at the gym..
4.) squat down.. keeping your feet on the wood and on the ground...
5.) it may seem that this doesn't hurt at first.. but trust me.. it will hurt soo much tomorrow.. :] that only means that it is really working!!!
6.) the less reps you do with the heavier stick the more muscle mass you will get.. the more reaps with a lighter stick (or no stick) you will tone muscle.. so start with the stick if you can.. and once you get your results go on without the stick.
**JUST REMEBER***
your wood should be very thin.. your heel should not be at very much of an incline.. if you heel and your toes are at a high incline. your board is too think.

I am getting back into the swing of things with exercise and I was wondering what are the best abs exercises I can do with really expensive gym equipment? I have an exercise ball and some pilate’s bands, what could I do with these that could help me strengthen my core muscles?
The ball is a great way to strengthen your core and it’s also good for your back. There are so many different ways to do ab and back exercises on the ball. Some of the basics would be to…
first of all you want your ball firm, but with some give and when you sit on it your legs should be parallel to the floor and you knees should not be higher or lower than your hips
lay back on the ball so your lower back is on the ball an feet planted on the floor – hands behind head on top of each other (don’t lace the fingers) and keep elbows out – exhale and pull the belly button into the spine as you "crunch" up and inhale as you lower
in the same position – as you crunch up twist your left elbow to right side to work the obliques lower and then do right elbow to left side
for the back – place the ball under the front of your hips with legs straight out behind you and toes on floor – place hands under chin and lift – hold for 3 counts and lower – repeat
try 3 sets of 20 in each position
like I said – there are tons of different exercises you can do on the ball

does anyone know a good site with information on how to use some of the basic equipment/machines in the gym ? (maybe photos along explanations to see if they match the ones I would like to work out or have where I go).
I have no intention for paying for a trainer, because I have a friend that already instructed me what structure of exercises to use… however we are not going to the same gym , big distance, so I have to adapt his routine to the new machines…
It would be a breeze if I see a site that instructs what type of muscles each device helps train. It seems silly to pay for the trainer for only this when I could of read it in a book or site in max half an hour.
However thanks for your inputs.
