Do I need additional equipment to do the entire P90X routine?

I have absolutely no work out equipment whatsoever. In order to do this entire workout what do I need (other than the discs obviously!)? Thanks for your answers.

Also, I DO NOT – DO NOT need to lose weight. I am pretty scrawny. Will this program help?

Hey Vaughan,

Don’t worry, if you do p90x and eat well, you will GROW MUSCLE and see huge changes to your body, I can guarantee that.
It is a great program put together by a professional (Tony Horton) that anyone with some willpower can complete in their home without having to be a superhuman or invest in a lot of expensive equipment.

So why does it work? Well the fitness guide teaches you all about how it works. But if you lift heavier weights less repetitions, you fuel your body with healthy foods and good proteins and carbohydrates, and you grow muscle. That is now just p90x, it is PROVEN scientific fact.
it comes with a fitness and nutrition guide, so you cannot go wrong.

What do you need?

Ideally you need a chin up bar, as well as a set of resistance bands or set of dumbbells. Resistance bands are what I use, and they are PERFECT. At about $45 they offer the same amounts of weight as a complete dumbbell set, and they can be packed away into a backpack or stored under your bed.

A chin up bar is the best additional equipment, but not necessary. You can do all the chin up workouts with the bands, and a door as the bands hook onto the door and simulate a chin up. They are how I do my chin ups every other week as my body is just not equipped to do chin ups all the time, every one is different after all!

You can do the yoga (yes, yoga and it rocks!) without a yoga block, no problem, and you don’t need a mat if you don’t want to use one either.

So really, getting the program and some fitness bands are the ONLY two expenses. And you will be set to get started.

YES! Once you start the first 2 minutes of the video (after the stretching) you’re going to realize that you’re screwed.

Here’s the list that you need:

    1. Dumbbells!
    2. Pull-Up Bar
    3. Stretch Band

Do pullups and pushups. I do them three times a day…and I have done tens of thousands of them. You can get a door frame pullup bar at Target for cheap. Go get one and use it! It’s important to know that you need to exercise regularly with strain for many years to see big improvement.

If you are young (or not), exercise and eat well. Develop good nutrition and exercise habits and stay with them your whole life. I started when I was 12 or so and am 43 now. I can push and pull more than kids half my age. And I look it, too.

For your legs you should get a decent all terrain bike and ride it 10 or so miles a day three days a week at a good pace. That’s plenty. Good luck!
