How do I prepare for Track and Field?

Hi their.. I’m in 8th grade, and have never been on a school sports team before. I would like to join track and field, but I’m afraid I won’t be good enough. Their are no cuts, and the coaches will train us and get us in shape in order to be ready for actual competitions and stuff. But I want to get in even more shape, without my coaches help. Track and Field doesn’t (officially) start until May, and I want to be ready. That being said, what could I do in order to get in shape for it? I literally have no where to exercise. I don’t know how soon, but soon, one of our gym teachers will start allowing students to come after school and work out in our ‘wellness center’ (which is basically a place filled with TONS of exercise equipment). However, it’ll probably be too late by the time she actually lets us.. I play Just Dance 3, and currently go to the Wellness Center when I have gym class. But I only have 20 minutes to work out.. Just Dance 3 and 20 minutes of exercise is not enough. My parents will not let me go anywhere. And I have no where else to go.

Do you know what I could do (at home) that would help me prepare for Track and field? I am mainly going for Track though.. That is my main concern. I just want to be in shape and ready for this..
Thanks for reading and all answers are appreciated and have a nice day.

Track is lots of running, so when you are home, start running around your block, you have to build up your cardiovascular system, that’s where it all starts…
