There are many different reasons for starting up or intensifying your physical fitness program, but among the most popular are to enhance one’s appearance, increase their overall level of health, and to prolong and improve the quality of their life. Use the information found in these tips to get started with your new plan.
In order to truly commit to a fitness program, you need to change your attitudes and beliefs about fitness. You need to be willing to work hard, even when you’re feeling tired or lazy. Only if you are willing to make solid, lasting changes will you able to make fitness a part of your life.
Signing up for a regular exercise class is a great way to get fit. It’s easy to promise yourself that you’ll find time to exercise, but a class will give you an extra obligation. Once you’ve signed up and set aside the time, having a class to go to will help motivate you to exercise and avoid the usual excuses.
When doing crunches, you need to make sure you are protecting your neck to reduce an injury. Pretend there is an orange in between your neck and your chest. This will help to reduce any extra strain you may have. It will also make your body in the proper alignment so that you are getting the full benefit.
Jumping jacks are a classic calisthenic exercise that you can do. All you have to do is jump and separate your arms and legs. Then jump again and return to a normal standing position. Repeat this about 20 to 25 times a day. If you’re a little more athletic, you can increase the number of jacks.
To keep yourself positive about long repetitions, count backward instead of forward. Counting forward has you concentrating on how much you have already done and can make you feel fatigued faster. Alternately, counting backward keeps you focused on how you have a little less to do with every rep.
If you work at a job that has many floors, one thing that you should do is to take the steps instead of the elevator. This will give you some exercise that you need during the day, and can help to break down a lot of fat over the course of the year.
Now that you have identified your key motivation for starting up or stepping up a comprehensive fitness program, you can take some time to plan out and visualize your most effective approach and contingency plan. Use these tips and tricks as you push yourself to beat the obstacles and win your way to physical fitness.

Some of the common fitness activities individuals who are Blind/Visually Impaired participate include yoga, stationary bike riding, aerobics, basketball, jumping rope and weight training. With the introduction of the PUSHUP GRID™ – Pushup Training and Assessment Mat, the pushup exercise can now be added to this list with very little modification.

In a slight departure from the workouts I’ve been bringing to you free week after week, I had to stop and show you something this week that absolutely blew my mind. This guy…I’ll call him the “Man of Steel” (he works at a steelyard) sent in a video of him performing a pushup…that blew me away so much that I had to go out and see him first hand! The guy’s strength is unbelievable! I wanted to show this to you and show you how with little to “no equipment”, you too can get great results in your very own home gym doing the same types of exercise. Now, my AthLEAN-X Training System is also a workout system that can be done either in the gym with lots of equipment, or at home with the home gym little to “no equipment” necessary version of the workout.
If you haven’t seen this pushup before…it’s crazy. If you have never tried this pushup variation before, be careful when you do. It’s very intense. You have to build up to this and it’s not for novice weight trainers.
In my travels, I have seen some crazy feats of strength, but this one is definitely at the top of my list. As you might know, I write regularly for Men’s Fitness Magazine, was the physical therapist and strength coach for the New York Mets for the 2006,2007, and 2008 seasons…..and I continue to work as a celebrity fitness trainer working with some of the top professional athletes and celebrities in the world today. As you can imagine I’ve seen some great workouts and some great physiques. This guy….the “Man of Steel” almost tops them all. Not only that, but did I mention….this guy is 47 years old?!?! It’s amazing.

I wanted to show all of you what I use to workout and all of my fitness equipment. However, to get in great shape you really don’t need any equipment at all, just your body! That is what is so great about Insanity, you are just using yourself as the resistance and pushing yourself, and you will see results. But it is good to have different equipment to add variety to your workouts and to challenge yourself. Just get the equipment you need, and don’t go out and spend all your money! Try to find good deals on craigslist or on ebay, like I did for my dumbbells and power tower, which will save you a ton of money.
